THE BENEFITS OF PRE-PLANNING

There are a number of benefits to planning your final arrangements in advance.

Peace of mind

Pre-planning gives you, your friends and family peace of mind. If you should die without pre-planning, the people you love will be left with a great deal of uncertainty during an already difficult time. Pre-planning gives them a clear idea of your intentions and desires.

Pre-planning also provides direction to the executor of your estate.

Making an informed decision

Pre-planning gives you time to make an informed decision about your cemetery services such as cremation or traditional ground burial, and the amount you wish to spend and the form of memorial you prefer.

Relieving financial burden

Pre-planning allows you peace of mind, knowing your family and friends will be relieved of the financial burden often associated with making arrangements when a death occurs.

Trust contracts and cancellation privileges

Your payment(s) go into our Pre-Need Assurance Trust Fund. You will receive a contract outlining the terms and conditions of your purchase and your cancellation privileges. All of the terms and conditions will be fully explained to you.

Cemetery services: if you change your mind within the first 30 days, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid. After 30 days, an administrative fee, as required by law and outlined on your contract, will be charged.

Interment rights, such as a mausoleum crypt or a grave: if you cancel your contract within the first 60 days, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid. After 60 days, a refund will be issued for the amount paid, less a contribution to the Care and Maintenance Fund, again, as required by law.

Talking to your parents about pre-planning

If you are reading this information with your parents in mind, you may be wondering how to broach the subject of pre-planning their final arrangements.

Some possible scenarios that could start an open, honest discussion include:

  • When a parent asks you to be his or her executor
  • If your parent brings the subject up
  • If your parent is seriously ill
  • If the subject comes up naturally if, say, you are visiting a cemetery

Payment options

Mt. Olivet Memorial Park offers a number of flexible payment options to suit every budget.

  • When you pre-plan, you can pay in full by cash, check, credit card or cashier's check.
  • For some cemetery services, you can take advantage of our time-payment plan and make monthly payments without interest or finance charges.
